What's in my bag?

My natural intution and curosity makes What's in my bag posts so interesting for me. I love the youtube versions, the instagram posts, the blog pots, any platform that allows me to be nosy into other people's bags. I did a what's in my bag as guest blogger a long time ago so I thought that I was time to do another.

The bag that i'm currently using is a Louis Vuitton speedy 30 in the Damier Ebene canvas. It was a gift for my 18th birthday and I love it. it's the medium size so I find it to be the perfect size for everyday use.

My purse was actually other gift and is the Tory Burch Thea purse in black. I love the pom pom on the end of the zip. It makes it so much easier to find in my bag. The wallet itself is really big and spacious. It hold's a lot of stuff inside and I can even fit my phone inside for when I want to just take my purse and my keys out.

If you live in/or around London you need an Oyster, it saves time and money. Another English essential is an umbrella. If you live in England, chances are that most days it will be raining so I always carry an umbrella to save my hair. I hate leaving the house and forgetting my headphones, they make train journeys go faster and save you from a dull and dreary day.  Another train saver is a book. I'm currently reading the last book in the divergent series; Allegiant. A must read!

I use this old Soap and Glory bag that it wipe clean to hold hand sanitizer , anti bacterical wipes, tissues, paracetamol and any other essentials. I find it easy to just carry it all in one pouch and then I can move the pouch from bag to bag as I chose to.

Lip products! Every girl has lip products in her bag! I do swap them out but my favourites seem to linger! My chanel Lipgloss in 347 which is my all time favourite lipgloss. Next is a new favourite of mine the Revlon super lustrous lipgloss in 'super natural' which really lives up to its name. And then for everyday moisturising I use my all time favourite lip balm; the one and only Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 in Mango.

I hope you enjoyed this little peak into my bag. What's in your bag? reply in the comments down below.

Instagram Moments

It's no lie that i'm a bit of an instagram lover. I'm constantly on it, checking up on my favourite accounts and sneaking peaks into people's lives. So I decided to share some  of my favourite Instagram posts\moments over the last couple of months. I also wanted to share with you my favourite instagram accounts

1. Gigi Hadid-  @gigihadid
Just the fact that she is a year older than me and is crazy successful, kinda motivates me and she
uploads loads of cute pictures of her model life and friends.

2. Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel - @lilyaldridge @doutzen @angelcandice
I'm a Victoria's Secret lover, worked for them, obsessed with the brand since the age of 12 so naturally I follow the angels on instagram. My stream is filled with candids, model party pictures and headshots.

3. Dorothy Wang - @dorothywang
Rich Kid, Socialite and fashionista. Dorothy's posts include club photos at 1Oak, travel photos from just about anywhere and Birkin bags.

4. Lauren Conrad- @laurenconrad
How could I not follow the girl who I grew up idolising, who made my interest in fashion seem like it could be something and made me buy teen vogue all the way from the US? Currently I'm on watch for her wedding pictures!

5.Holland Roden - @hollandroden
Getting updates from the set of one of my favourite shows, pictures from the playboy midsummer's night dream party and all of tv's hottest after parties? How could I not follow.

Back to School Essentials

It's that time of year again. Summer is gone and Autumn is here which means that it is back to school time. This year I venture to university, which is going to be different than anything I have ever experienced, which is slightly scaring me. However this is my favourite time of year, september marks the start of a new school year, the chance to work harder and try harder. The start of autumn, getting closer to winter, Starbucks stocking pumpkin spiced lattes and the opportunity to get your scarves out. So I have made a list of the things that have helped me through exam years and that I can't live without for school.

1. Longchamp or a pocket bag. I love Longchamp bags, they are the reliable best friend that is always there when all your other friends fail you. I love this burgundy/oxblood colour that is perfect for autumn. Another bag I love is one with pockets, perfect to separate notebooks from laptops from makeup. Some of my favourite inexpensive bags are from zara, they are chic yet cute.

2.  A planner. my favourite planners include a month to view along with everything else. I take time colour code this part of my planner and make sure that everything is exactly where it needs to be. This is the second year that I have purchased my planner from Pink.

3. Eye cream. Trust me you'll need this. I apply this every night before bed and sometimes if needed in the mornings to deflate those designer bags under your eyes.

4.Sanitizer! YOU NEED TO SANITIZE YOUR HANDS. Back to school means the spreading of germs! Carry a small bottle on you at all times and try to wash your hands when you get home.

5. Hydrate. In order for your brain to do it's job and help you get the best grades possible you need to hydrate. Not only will it help you concentrate but it will also help your hair, nails and skin.

6. Beats. I can't live without my beats when I need to study and block out the rest of the world. Even when I write blog posts I like to plug them in. My creativity needs approved sounds apparently.

7. Coloured pens. Coloured pens help you colour code and stay organised and make sure that everything looks pretty in the process.

8. Books. I don't mean textbooks. Sometimes it is nice to sit and read a fiction book or biography to get away from the facts and your textbooks as well as the blue lights in your computer and phone.

9.To do lists. In order for me to achieve any success in my school work I need to be organised I found this amazing to do list on my pinterest by Thyme in Honey, I will definitely be using this in my organisation this year. http://thyme-is-honey.com/2013/12/27/organize-2014/. As well as this organisation guide from momsfavouritestuff ; http://www.momsfavoritestuff.com/getting-organized-whole-school-year/

10. Frame of mind. You need to start the school year with the right frame of mid. You cant start the year not preparing yourself for what's ahead. set your self up for a succesful year that is productive as well as fun and even when you fall off the band wagon, you'll find it easy to jump back on.

Have an amazing school year

REVIEW: Steam & Rye

I knew it was going to be a match made in heaven and it really was. Steam & Rye is an American themed Bar/Restaurant in central London that offers an array of drinks and food. I visited for Pre 4th July celebrations with a friend and I was blown away. Cocktails in glasses shaped like the Mount Rushmore Presidents, fab lollies and oreos on top, it was truly heaven. American flags and subway car seats adorned the 'grand central station'. I felt like I had just landed on America soil. Cocktails at around £12 -£15 are average for a London bar they were also huge which made it worth the money as well as making little miss lightweight over here a little tipsy.Along with the fun cocktails the staff was friendly, helpful and kept in with the American theme. I unfortunately couldn't make it for 4th july where they had live American music, cheerleaders, confetti cannons and an American BBQ, but it is definitely on my calender for next year! You can book tables as well as booking the venue for parties, which various celebrities have. I'm planning on returning for dinner before I go off to University and I recommend it to everyone in the London area!  For more information visit www.steamandrye.com

The British Tag

There is a tag that is circulating that involves 12 questions and a cup of tea. It was made by beautycrush a british youtuber, who came up with a list of questions that determines ones britishness. As much as I love America and all things American, I can't deny my british heritage. The tag has to be answered with a cup of tea of choice. So Queen Bee cup filled with Twinings English Breakfast in hand, here are my answers.

1. How many cups of tea do you have a day?and how many sugars  Depends on where I am, but usually 1-2 cups. 1 spoonful of sugar.

2. Favourite part of your roast?  by far it has to be the yorkshire pudding and gravy! I do love a good roast potato though! Roast dinners are my favourite though so everything.

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?  A classic rich tea biscuit or rich tea finger. It melts perfectly in a cup of tea.

4. Favourite quintessentially british pastime? Afternoon tea is a favourite of mine.

5. Favourite word? I don't know if its  particularly british, but it sounds great in a british accent; Darling

6. Cockney rhyme slang?  bobs your uncle, you're having a giraffe (is that cockney???)

7. Favourite sweet? rhubarb and custard sweets or sherbert lemon

8. What would your pub be called?  The Queen and the plough ( it makes no sense, but it's the first thing that came to mind)

9. No.1 British person ?  The Queen, The spice girls

10. Favourite shop/restaurant  ?   Charbonnel et Walker; the best truffles in london, their original shop is still on bond street and are the royal chocolate manufacturers for the queen. Favourite restaurants are local little pubs that do amazing roast dinners.

11. What british songs pop into your head? All I can think of is wannabe by the spice girls

12. Marmite? No, never, ever.

#YesAllWomen

I felt compelled to speak out in support of the hashtag that took over twitter in the past 24 hours. Sparked by the death of  innocents in and around the University of California. Now while I'm not going to get into the actual case, the backlash of the events has seen millions of women taking to social media to speak out against misogyny and the corrupted ideology that our society promotes. As a girl/woman I have been taught to be careful when walking at night, to not leave my drink unattended at parties in fear that someone would spike my drink, to just 'accept' men's catcalls and vulgar comments as 'boys will be boys' but why should girls be taught this and not men. Why not teach them to not attack vulnerable women at night, to not put drugs in women's drinks, to not make women feel like a piece of meat by making demeaning comments. Now this tag or this post is not to say that all men are awful creatures that treat women like their property, there are men who are also treated this way. However the reality is that a most men have made some sort of demeaning comment or groped a women or done something that made a woman feel uncomfortable (again not all of male population). Our society makes women feel that they are the reason for their rape, that we should expect comments off men if we dress in a 'provocative way'. We all are somewhat a product of our society and unfortunately until the messages that society are outputting changes then we cannot expect the people who live in the society to change. I shouldn't have to think where I could possibly hide if someone was following me or feel self conscious when a man hangs his head out the car to look at my body when I have jeans and a vest top on.
#YesAllWomen is true, sad and powerful.
A final note; Neil Gaiman produces my favourite tweet in the #YesAllWomen tag:

"The #yesallwomen hashtag is filled with hard, true, sad and angry things. I can empathise & try to understand & know I never entirely will."

February Favourites

With the month of love finally over, i'm here to share my favourites for the month of february with you all...

1. Sophia Bush
It's no secret that I love Sophia Bush, but this month I've been obsessed with her. She is not only an inspiration to women but to everyone. Far from a stereotypical actress, Bush's resume list philanthropist and do gooder. This moth Bush was presented with an Ally for equality Award from Human Rights Campaign for 'outstanding leadership and service to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community'

2. Iphone app: Word
Word is an app for iphones that delivers daily bible quotes in fun formats such as inspirational quotes. This app brings the bible to me everyday in an innovating way.

3. #RichKidsOfBeverlyHills
This show has met some harsh criticism, but overall its entertainment. These 25/26 year old billionaires are pure  entertainment from their bizarre quotes such as 'I don't like to smile at strangers, I don't want to use up the collagen I have left in my face'... to grabbing their birkins as an exotic bug flies round their hotel room in Cabo San Lucas.

4. Kate Spade
Kate Spade is fabulous, flawless, fantastic.
I'm in love with every bag, purse, shoe and iphone case.

5. A Note from the Universe
I first heard about a not from the universe, when Nina Dobrev would post hers on instagram. This month I signed up and every weekday, I receive my note from the universe. It truly does make my day better, cheer me up and inspire me.

Happy March

Beauty Love, Fashion Love, Self Love

Love, love, love. February the month of love which centres around valentines day, the day exactly half way through. Valentines day is often seen as a chance to profess love, spoil your loved one or even seen as a commercialized con day. However whatever you are doing this valentines day, whether that be a date, a girls night or even nothing, you don't have to have someone to make you feel special tomorrow... Make yourself feel good!

1. Wear pink/ red tomorrow whether that be through clothing, accessories or makeup.
Red and pink are such bright, fun colours that by wearing them somehow tomorrow, you can boost your confidence and feel good about yourself all day. Wear red nails or lips for a daring, sultry look or go pink and embrace your inner girl.

2. Enjoy yourself
Do something tomorrow that will make you happy. Have a girls night in your pjammas and order in. Have a date with someone and wear your new favourite dress or even have a pamper night, run a bath, use a bath bomb and put on a hair and face mask... You never need an excuse to treat yourself.

3. Love you
Challenge yourself to write down three things that you long about yourself. Self love is the most important thing. What makes you stand out? What makes you special? What do you love about you? Sometimes you don't need someone else to love you other than you.

4. Be inspired
Whether this be through clothes, makeup or demeanor, be inspired tomorrow. Whoever is your style icon or idol, emulate them tomorrow. Carry their confidence, or pull off their signature dark lip. Whatever you do, do it with confidence.

5. Be happy
I don't believe that anyone should be sad tomorrow. Valentines is my favourite holiday, it's not just about romantic love, but love for friends, family, obssessions, food and most importantly you. It's not about having a boyfriend/ girlfriend, it's about love in general. It should be a happy day that is a day to remember that you are a person, a strong character, loveable and most importantly you.

Happy valentines day!!
xoxo

Winter Essentials

With a polar vortex in the US and floods here in the UK, we can quite positively say that we are in winter. The bitter chill that has frozen us to our core has called for us to rally up our winter essentials in order to make it through. Here is a list of my winter essentials that I cannot survive winter without.

1. Good pajamas.
Displaying photo 2.JPG I usually walk around my house in shorts and a t-shirt but in the past couple of weeks I have been forced to put hoodies, long sleeves and tracksuit bottoms on to sleep through the night without waking up and feeling like i'm in antarctica. Find a hoodie that keeps you warm without making you wake up in the middle of the night feeling like you are taking a bath with a volcano and satan all at one time. A full set of pjs, local stores will have winter warmers that will keep you toasty at night and last but not least... fuzzy socks.

2. Hot Chocolate and a Hot water bottle.
Unfortunately I don't have the pleasure of having a live fire in my house, instead I like to crawl into bed or sit on the sofa with a blanket and a hot water bottle while sipping on a cup of hot chocolate. Pure bliss.

3.Moisturizer and scrubs.

Displaying photo 1.JPG
No one wants chapped lips or dry skin. The bitter chill can leave you dehydrated and looking like a chapped mess. A thick moisturizer to use at night will save you from cracking. I am currently using the Kiehl's Ultimate strength hand salve, which is perfect for ultra dry hands, the Garnier body intensive 7 days nourishing lotion for my body and my EOS lip balm in pomegranate raspberry. A good face and body scrub with remove the dead skin and flaky skin that you find you accumulate in winter. I'm loving Body shops mango body scrub which is sugar based and leaves my skin glowing and soap and glory's scrub your nose in it for my face.

4. Hat, gloves, scarf, coat.
Please do not leave your house in a leather jacket, its freezing, wrap up. A beanie hat, faux fur/wool,ear muffs headband will protect the heat from leaving your head = overall keeping you warmer. Gloves. No one wants chapped frozen hands, a leather pair will work with all outfits for a chic day or night look. Scarves are lifesavers as far as i'm concerned, keeping my neck warm= warm body. whether its an infinity scarf or a wool blend, cashmere or faux fur, you NEED a scarf. I loving Zara's wollen basics scarves right now, they double as snuggling blankets! And finally a coat, I really don't need to explain this one; whether is an oversized, puffa (or maybe not), parka, faux fur, boucle, trench or sheepskin, wear one.

5. Food.
There is a reason people put weight on in the winter, our bodies naturally crave carby, bulking foods that insulate our bodies and keep us warm. However don't be scared by the fact that our bodies need carbs, just simply switch the bad carbs for the good ones. Make sure you eat enough and eat the right stuff so that your body can do its job at insulating you and keep you  functioning.

Keep warm and safe this winter

If Monday were a shoe, it would be a croc

A new series on the blog is If Monday were a shoe it would be a croc. Each Monday I will post a picture, quote, video clip, poem or anything else that inspires me for the week ahead and anything that I feel should be shared with my readers.

This week it's a quote that I found posted on twitter:
Write a list of all the things you want to accomplish this week, starting with laughing more.

1. Laugh more.
2. Get back on my tone it up plan.
3. Get organized again.
4. Reevaluate my wardrobe.
5. Pay someone a compliment everyday this week.

Happy Monday

Perfection is Subjective.

Displaying photo.JPG
The whole world seems to be obsessed with perfection, the whole industry that i'm trying to break into is obsessed with the way that you look act and dress, even more so with journalism. As a girl i've grown up to hate every part of my body, I struggle to write five things about myself that I like, that are physical features and not features that are about my personality. Some how my intelligence, loyalty and willpower is overlooked by my hair, face and body. Yes I am victim to staring at pictures wishing I could wake and look like the girl just in the picture, trying to lose weight and wishing that my parents had enough money to buy me a nose job, but they can't and as soon as I realised that none of those things are happening, I made myself happier. Perfection is not what a person, the media or a website defines.

I tried not eating which lasted for a day, i've tried calorie counting and all the diets in the world, but the only way to acquire a body you desire is to eat well and workout. Simple. No fancy diets. I gained weight over a few years, with going through puberty and my body changing, I could no longer eat whatever I wanted. Unhappy with myself, blaming my lack of friends and social life on my looks, I took to comfort eating, which made me gain 3 stone in  a year and a half. Not cute. 2013 allowed me to see a healthy perspective on fitness and food. I feel that while I didn't lose weight in 2013, I really needed a year to focus myself and gain the insight that I now have on how to achieve the body I want and even though I try to hide my unhealthy relationship with food, I try not to see it as an outlet for my feelings and as the one thing that will make me feel better and then make me feel worse. My main motivation for weight loss is for a healthy lifestyle and to be able to feel good about myself, not to get a thigh gap or the new craze of a 'bikini bridge'. Tone It Up a lifestyle and fitness company, that span over twitter, facebook, and their blog www.toneitup.com  have really allowed me see that there is more to weight loss than being skinny. I am currently in the middle of their 'Love your body' series which is really helping me see myself in new light.

Yes I love clothes and makeup, but I wear the clothes that I wear and apply the makeup that I apply, maybe because I believe it will make myself more attractive but mainly because I find picking makeup and clothes to wear for the day or night fun and not because anyone else told me to. The point I'm getting at is that we should be able have this independence, to look a certain way because we want to. WE ARE NOT CLONES. Never dress a certain way for anyone but yourself, you are what defines your own perfection.

Tv. One may say trigger, one may say outlet. I found TV as my source of an outlet, to relate to characters and to have a place to seek help and advice. Everyone is different, but you have to find something that strikes a chord with you and will help you see a different light that the one you were surrounded in before. Last Year One Tree Hill helped me relate to character I never thought I could be like. Sophia Bush's character was introduced as the popular high school cheerleader, who was stunning, rich and could get any boy she wanted. However 'Brooke' always felt that people thought that she was happy because of her material items and the way that she carried herself. It wasn't until season 4 when 'Brooke' decided to take this picture, which for me encapsulated everything that I felt and it made me realise as I continued to watch the show and 'Brooke' grew as a character that one day you find someone or do something that makes you not feel that way about yourself anymore. The show also introduced me to Sophia Bush, who I obviously knew of but I wasn't too familiar with, however under her influence her character commissioned a campaign for her store that highlighted the pressures of the fashion world. 'Zero is not a Size', well zero is a size but it helped it letting me know that I don't have to be a size zero to fit in and be perfect.

Friends. Surround yourself with people that love you and support you. My friends are pretty, end of. It's not me saying that or thinking that because they are my friends, but they are pretty girls. I used to believe that I looked uglier next to them because they were pretty or that people would see them and then look at me and think why are they friends with her? I used to tell myself that I wasn't really in the group because I wasn't pretty enough and  a member of the group ( who in fact turned out to be a friend to none of us ) joked that I could ever get with a certain boy because he was good looking, I started to really believe that I was the ugly duckling per say of the group. However when I spoke to my friends two of them looked at me pull the ugliest faces going and asked 'We're pretty? yeah gorgeous' The small gesture made me feel better about myself and reassured me that it didn't matter what I looked like, I was their friend. I don't know why I would think that they wouldn't like me because I wasn't pretty enough. And while I still may think that I am the ugly duckling, I know regardless that I have friends who like me in all my ugly ducklingness! My friends and I aren't perfect and we don't all look alike but thats what makes us different.

The point of this post, is to show that perfection is subjective, my idea of perfection was the warped media version for so long, but now I have my own view on 'perfection'. To build a view you need to stand back and look, to feel better about yourself you need to stand back and look. Stop looking at things in the way that you think everyone else does and look at it through your eyes.

PERFECTION IS SUBJECTIVE
